The position will be based at the Dudfield Plant Lichtenburg, the person will report to the Production Superintendent in the Quarry.

Responsibilities
Job Description
Supervising drilling and blasting activities
Ensuring quarry development is aligned to short and medium terms quarry mining plans
Ensuring face marking is up to standard
Ensuring burden and spacing is adhered to during drilling
Submission and generation of blast reports
Ensuring blasting is done within the budget
Reducing negative environmental impact
Ensuring safe work practices
Making sure Safe evacuation of quarry prior and during a blast
Requirements
Job Requirements
Grade 12 or Amended Senior Certificate or National Certificate Vocational Level 4 or
Technical Matric – N3 (4 technical subjects + 2 official languages)
Open Cast Blasting Certificate (Mandatory)
Competent Person A certificate -Examine and make safe (MQA) certificate
Minimum 2 years blasting in restricted areas and open cast mining
Knowledge to calculate accessories and emulsion requirements per blast
Knowledge of drilling, rig set up and operating
Thorough knowledge of MHSA and understanding of Explosive Act requirements
Valid code 8 driver’s license.
Must be declared medically fit after medical examination.
