Workshop Foreman/Manager

Our client is looking for a hands-on Workshop Foreman / Workshop Manager with a strong Boilermaking background, ideally someone who has come through the trade and progressed into supervision or management. The successful person needs to be comfortable spending their entire day on the workshop floor, managing artisans and production, reading and interpreting engineering drawings, allocating work, checking workmanship and quality, solving fabrication problems and ensuring jobs move through the workshop according to schedule.
The candidate will be working in workshop with a mixture of heavy and medium fabrication, structural steel, plate work, welding, laser cutting, CNC press brakes, conventional machining and general mining-equipment manufacture, so broad engineering workshop exposure would be preferable.
Minimum Requirements:
• A strong boilermaker/fabricator background
• Boilermaking Red Seal Trade certificate
• Must have a minimum of 3 years hands on foreman or workshop supervisory experience.
• Experience managing boilermakers, welders, fitters and machine operators.
• Very good engineering drawing interpretation.
• Production planning and job allocation experience.
• Strong quality control and workshop discipline.
• Experience in heavier fabrication rather than predominantly light sheet-metal work.
• A practical, hands-on personality rather than somebody looking for a predominantly office-based planning role.
• Must be fully bilingual in Afrikaans and English
• Valid Driver’s license and own transport
