About the role
The Factory Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company’s pet food
production plant. This includes logistics and planning functions but also ensuring
operational efficiency, maintaining compliance with safety and legal regulations, and
managing the maintenance team to achieve higher standards of reliability and
cleanliness. The role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a focus on
continuous improvement to optimize throughput and overall plant performance.
Requirements
Required
Gr 12 Completed with completed degree or diploma relevant
+5 years’ experience in similar role
Key Responsibilities:
Compliance & Safety:
* Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and industry regulations.
* Enforce the mandatory use of safety equipment and PPE where required.
Operations & Production Management:
* Organize production processes to maximize throughput and efficiency.
* Maintain and improve factory operations to meet new, higher standards.
* Implement best practices in production and maintenance planning.
* Oversee production workflows and ensure smooth execution.
Maintenance & Reliability:
* Manage the maintenance team to enhance equipment reliability and operational
cleanliness.
* Develop and oversee preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
Leadership & Employee Development:
* Lead, motivate, and manage teams within the manufacturing environment.
* Mentor and coach employees to improve their technical and operational skills.
* Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and professional
growth.
Performance Expectations:
* Maintain high operational efficiency and minimize production downtime.
* Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations and company policies.
* Continuously improve production throughput and plant reliability.
* Develop and implement staff training programs to enhance workforce capability.
* Plan and implement plant production capacity upgrade
* Plan and implement overall step-up of the company’s maintenance and site presentation
