Fleet Inspector
About the role
Our client, a leading organisation in the transport and logistics sector, is seeking a detail-oriented and safety driven Fleet Inspector to join their operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting thorough inspections, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and maintaining the overall roadworthiness of the fleet.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct daily, weekly, and scheduled inspections on all fleet vehicles (trucks, trailers, LDVs, etc.).
• Verify compliance with road safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
• Identify defects, wear, and potential risks, and report findings accurately.
• Complete inspection checklists, documentation, and compliance reports.
• Liaise with drivers, mechanics, and management regarding repairs and maintenance requirements.
• Monitor vehicle condition, tyres, brakes, lights, hydraulics, and safety equipment.
• Assist with accident investigations, incident reporting, and corrective action processes.
• Ensure all vehicles meet legal roadworthiness requirements before dispatch.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
• Grade 12 (Matric).
• Proven experience as a Fleet Inspector, Vehicle Examiner, or similar role.
• Strong understanding of transport regulations, roadworthiness standards, and fleet safety.
• Technical knowledge of trucks, trailers, and mechanical systems.
• Excellent reporting, record keeping, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and maintain high accuracy.
• Valid driver’s license (Code 10/14 a preference ).
• PDP beneficial.
• Excellent computer skills needed
